Mardi Gras buns
Ingredients:
25 g of yeast
1 egg
1 1/4 dl milk
100 g fridge-cold butter
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
300 g wheat flour (approximately)
Egg or milk for brushing
Custard (the fast one in powder form)
Sweetened milk for the vanilla cream
Course of action:
Mix flour and sugar together in a bowl. Add butter to this and knead it with your fingers until you get a crumbly mass.
Warm the milk to lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it. Add eggs and whisk.
Mix all ingredients together and knead well. More flour may need to be added.
Let the dough rise in a bowl covered with a tea towel for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, make the vanilla cream according to the instructions on the package. Leave it in the fridge until ready to use.
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each one out. Add two tsp. Cake cream in the middle. Fold each piece together, making sure they are closed tightly. On a baking sheet with baking paper, place the buns with the closure facing down.
Let them rise under a tea towel for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Meanwhile, beat an egg and brush the buns. Bake them for about 15 minutes.
When the Mardi Gras buns are finished baking and completely cooled, they can be decorated with glaze and crumbs.
You can also let your imagination run wild and decorate like here with candyfloss, laces and chocolate noses so they look like clowns.
